Google pixel imei 000 fix

An IMEI showing as 0 (or 000...) typically indicates that the device's EFS (Encrypted File System) partition is corrupted or that there is a communication failure between the operating system and the modem firmware.

Because the IMEI is a unique hardware identifier, "fixing" it via software can be difficult and, in many regions, legally restricted. Here is a guide on how to approach this, ranging from simple resets to professional repair.

1. Soft Reset & SIM Re-insertion

Before attempting technical fixes, ensure it isn't a temporary firmware glitch.

  • Power Cycle: Turn the phone off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on.

  • Reseat the SIM: Remove the SIM tray, check for damage, and re-insert it. If you use an eSIM, try toggling "Mobile Network" off and on in Settings.

  • Toggle Airplane Mode: Switch it on for 10 seconds and then off to force the modem to restart.

2. Check for System Updates

If a recent update caused the corruption, Google may have released a "hotfix."

  • Go to Settings > System > System update.

  • If an update is available, install it via Wi-Fi.

3. The Google Pixel Update and Software Repair Tool

Google provides an official web-based tool designed to rescue Pixels with corrupted software. This is the safest way to "reflash" the modem firmware.

  1. Back up all data (this process may wipe the device).

  2. On a computer using Chrome, go to the Pixel Update and Software Repair Tool.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to put your phone into Fastboot Mode (Power + Volume Down).

  4. Select the "Fix Software" or "Rescue" option.

4. Factory Data Reset

If the repair tool doesn't work, a full reset may clear corrupted cached data in the radio configuration.

  • Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset).

  • Note: This will not fix a hardware-level modem failure, but it rules out third-party app interference.

5. Potential Hardware Failure

If the IMEI is 0 and you also notice that Wi-Fi or Bluetooth cannot be toggled on, the issue is likely a physical failure of the motherboard or the modem chip.

  • Dropped Phone: A hard impact can desolder pins on the baseband processor.

  • Water Damage: Corrosion can short out the power lines to the modem.

⚠️ Important Warnings

  • Illegal Software: Avoid "IMEI Repair" tools found on sketchy forums. Changing an IMEI to anything other than the original number printed on your box/SIM tray is illegal in many countries and can lead to the device being blacklisted.

  • Warranty/Support: If your Pixel is still under warranty, do not attempt to root the device or flash custom ROMs to fix this. Contact Google Support or your carrier immediately. An IMEI 0 is often grounds for a device replacement if there is no physical/liquid damage.
